Norwood Crossing is a nonprofit healthcare organization specializing in quality senior care. Our facility is located on the northwest side of Chicago in the quaint neighborhood of Norwood Park. Our organization is seeking a part-time Diet Receiver to join our growing team. Our ideal candidate will pride themselves on displaying professionalism, excellent nutrition knowledge, and having the enthusiasm and willingness to learn. 

Required scheduled work  time: 7am- 11am 

Responsibilities

  • Work on the tray lines to assure accuracy and quality
  • Review menus and have all items needed assigned to a station to prepare for service
  • break down of the line
  • Audit trays for accuracy based upon diet ordered and resident's preferences
  • Have in depth knowledge of special or altered diets, textures, allergies and restrictions in relation to nourishment and ability.
  • Monitor the serving temperatures of food on the line
  • Monitor tray at service for accuracy on all floors
  • Daily take resident orders on all floors of skilled nursing with special attention to resident allergies, restrictions, and personal preferences.
  • Work closely with the Clinical Dietitian and Production Manager to ensure maximum food quality and accuracy.
  • Ensure proper food serving temperatures on line
  • Supervisor proper handling and portioning of food
  • Monitor appearance and texture of foods served
  • Monitor proper functioning of equipment necessary to provide quality food and services
  • Monitor and report problems with menu to supervisor
  • Demonstrate procedures and use of equipment
  • Apply basic standards of sanitation program to meet health regulations and Norwood Crossing standards and assure it is used with all employees
  • Carry out safety measures for accident prevention
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment
  • Maintain knowledge of Norwood Crossing's Corporate Compliance policies including those having to do with confidentiality and security of information, and concerns for the well being of residents and patients. Demonstrates behaviors and completes work in a manner consistent with these policies.
  • Other duties as assigned and appropriate.



Qualifications

Highschool Diploma or equivalent

*Nutrition or Healthcare related degree prefferred

*Food service knowledge prefferred

Able to read, write, speak and understand English with excellent attention to detail

Ability to make independent decisions, follow instructions and to accept constructive criticism

Ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members visitors, government agencies/personnel and the general public

 Leadership ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel

 Patience, tact, cheerful disposition and enthusiasm

 Willing to handle residents based on the maturity level at which they are currently functioning
